KD Ranch offers an action packed agenda that will keep you busy from dawn until dark. You're welcome to participate in as much or as little as you care to.
Here's a sample week, but it's subject to change.
Our meals are served at 8:30-breakfast, 12:30-lunch, and 6:30-dinner, and the bar opens with drinks and appetizers at 5:00.
Check-in starts at 4:00 p.m. Guests can take their time unpacking and settling in. After dinner we will meet the horses, talk about riding experience and spend time mingling with the other guests.
Orientation is after breakfast and consists of a round pen demonstration that will introduce to you how we train our horses, some horse psychology, and how to saddle and ride. Then you will be matched with your horse for the week, become acquainted while in the arena, and then head out on a short trail ride. After lunch you'll hit the trails again. Make sure you save room at dinner for yummy s'mores roasted over the bonfire.
Tuesday morning you’ll saddle up for another ride and then in the afternoon you can enjoy the cowboy sport of team penning. It is a timed game in an arena where three riders try to cut out three calves and get them in a small pen. After dinner, be prepared to put your game face on for poker night. Try your hand at a friendly game of Texas Hold’em where the stakes are high but don’t worry, the Ranch provides the chips!
We’ll hit the trails again after breakfast. Lunch will be a cook-out on the pool deck. The afternoon can be spent relaxing or playing games. Late afternoon we'll do some roping lessons and then try our hand on the roping machine. After dinner we will saddle up for an evening sunset trail ride.
You can take another shot at catching those calves that you couldn’t get the other day in another morning of team penning. After lunch is a trip to the Wild's - an exotic 10,000-acre nature reserve. Thursday evening you’ll enjoy popcorn and a movie night.
In the morning we'll saddle up for another view of rolling countryside while checking cattle. After lunch you can participate in our "Dude Rodeo" (many fun games played in the arena). Friday night it's time to kick back and enjoy the picture show from the week and some guitar picking.
Before you think about leaving, you can hit the trails one last time. Check-out is at 12:00 p.m.
